• The Illinois Library Association has put its telephone jobline online.

• The Alliance Library System has a jobline, a good source for non-Chicagoland Illinois job openings. RSS feed available.

• The DuPage Library System has moved its "jobs & careers" listings to its blog. Read just the job postings online, or subscribe via e-mail or RSS to the entire blog via the link on the right.

• Access the NSLS Jobs Page here to search or browse listings. Updated on Fridays.

• Another great service for Illinois job seekers is MLS's Career Central. Now updated as jobs are received. To see all jobs, just leave the search terms blank and hit the search button.

• The Prairie Area Library System (PALS) includes listings and links to other area systems that may have job postings.

Individual Libraries:

• The University of Chicago occasionally has openings.

• Work for the Naperville Public Library, in Chicago's southwest suburbs.

• The Chicago Public Library lists its available positions here. Note, however, that you must be or be willing to become a Chicago resident to be employed by CPL.

• The Evanston Public Library generally has a few current positions listed on its jobs page.

• As does the Barrington Area Library.

• Or, the Highland Park Public Library.

• SirsiDynix lists its current openings online. In Provo, Utah and Evanston, Illinois.

• Like Des Plaines? Try the Des Plaines Public Library.

• Don't overlook job openings at ALA itself.

• Wouldn't it be kind of neat to work for the Newberry Library?

• Or the Warren Newport Library in Gurnee - they have a café!

• Automation vendor ExLibris has positions in Chicago and Boston (as well as Israel and the UK).

• Try the Oak Park Public Library.

• Or, the St. Charles Public Library.

• Or, the Urbana Free Library.

• Check out the Member Library Directories for every Illinois Library System to see if those in your area have employment sites.

• Try the job bank at Dominican University - unfortunately, you now need to be a current student or alum to receive a password to view listings. All jobs, not just library-related.

• Try The Greater Western Library Alliance.
