Check out The Accidental Library Manager!
Support for newer, potential, and accidental library managers. The title includes advice both from established managers (on what they wish they knew going in), and from library staff (on the qualities they look for in their own managers). Read an excerpt and view handy links. |
Many state libraries and local associations maintain job pages. Don't forget to check resources from nearby states as well as your own. No job banks in your state? Bug your state library and state library association, as they are often your best source for employment resources but can be slow in putting them online. Your library not listed? E-mail rachel@lisjobs.com with the web address of your job postings.

If you are interested in working at a particular institution, check its web page and see if it lists position openings. A good list of libraries' sites can be found at Libweb. For colleges, also check the general HR page of the school's web site; university libraries do not always have a separate employment page. For city libraries, postings can often be found on the city's HR page.
