Info Career Trends - January 2001 Welcome Message
Happy 2001! And welcome back to Info Career Trends, the electronic newsletter for information professionals interested in developing their own careers. This issue focuses on one of the most basic steps in professional development, the library job hunt. Find advice on creating an effective resume or professional portfolio, locating that first job, working with an agency, and dealing with a search committee -- and one librarian provides advice for employers on how to better conduct those all-important interviews. On a personal note, my first book, Teaching the Internet In Libraries, has just been issued by ALA Editions. I would of course love for you all to run out and buy a copy (or twelve!) -- but will settle for your sharing in my excitement :). Thanks to all for being a part of this venture. I'm still seeking contributors for the March issue on distance education -- make it your New Year's resolution to get published in the "real" new millennium. Please see the online guidelines, and consider sharing your experiences and expertise with your fellow librarians. - Rachel
