Info Career Trends - LISjobs.com's Professional Development Newsletter

writing for publication, book cover Check out The Librarian's Guide to Writing for Publication!

This one-stop guide for librarians at any stage of their publishing career features topics ranging from queries and proposals, to increasing your odds of publication, to the particular demands of authorship in an electronic environment - as well as interviews with library publishers and editors. Read an excerpt, see table of contents, and get ordering info.

Welcome to Info Career Trends, LISjobs.com's professional development e-mail newsletter (ISSN 1532-0839). ICT addresses career development topics relevant to practicing information professionals. The newsletter is currently disseminated bi-monthly via e-mail, and is also available in full at the Info Career Trends blog and via RSS. The web and RSS versions are generally posted simultaneously with the e-mail version. In November 2007, Info Career Trends moved to WordPress to better facilitate communication with readers.

This is not another publication telling you how to run your library. Instead, ICT addresses issues related to your personal professional development, providing you with information on furthering your own library career. The focus is on librarians, rather than on libraries. Each issue features articles by librarians and library consultants, book reviews, and pointers to relevant articles and web sites.

If you are having trouble receiving the newsletter via e-mail, please check your filters and spam settings. Junk mail filters sometimes have trouble differentiating between a requested newsletter and an unsolicited message. If you are on a free e-mail provider such as Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail, you may need to add ICT to your list of allowed senders ("safe list" in your Hotmail options; Yahoo! might drop the newsletter into your "bulk mail" folder - just open the message and click "this is not spam" to add to the allowed list). The address the newsletter will come from is: infocareertrendsnewsletter@LISjobs.com. On AOL, add infocareertrendsnewsletter@LISjobs.com to your "buddy list." On other ISPs, you may need to add infocareertrendsnewsletter@LISjobs.com to your "approved sender" list or "whitelist". If you change e-mail addresses, please take the time to come back and unsubscribe.

Neither the site nor the newsletter collect any personal information other than name (optional) and e-mail address (needed to send the newsletter). Please note that ICT occasionally includes short text ads from library-related organizations and that by signing up you are giving your permission to receive ads in the body of your newsletter. You will not receive e-mail advertising other than that contained in the newsletter itself.
