Schools

  • The Rutgers SCILS maintains an online job bank.

  • UT School of Information JobWeb.

  • Dominican University has now decided to make its job listings available to current students and alums only. Alums need to contact Dominican for a login and password. All jobs, not just library-related.

  • Clarion's Placement Center lists job openings. Site is in frames, so click "Placement" on the left, and then "Library and Information Science Position Listings."

  • Job postings from the University of North Texas.

  • At the College of Education at Missouri - must be a current student or alum to login.

  • Take a look at the professional job postings from Drexel University's IST Placement Center, as well as pre-professional positions, including internships.

  • Indiana University has jobs in library and information science listed by specialty or by geographic region.

  • St. Catherine's in sunny Minnesota lists "information management" job opportunities. Updated weekly. Browsable by job title, company, and date, or just look at the current month's postings -- your options are listed in the left-hand frame. Not especially up-to-date.

  • The UM School of Information has made their job listings available to students/alums only.

  • The University of Rhode Island GSLIS job list generally includes postings from the Northeastern region of the US.

  • Simmons College GSLIS sponsors the New England Library Jobline. Positions are broken down by library type, and seem to be only in the New England area. Jobs are generally posted each Thursday.

 

Journals

  • The job listings from the past couple months of American Libraries and other ALA sources are now at ALA JobLIST.

  • Library Journal's "Job Zone."

  • The Chronicle of Higher Education lists pertinent ads under librarians and library administration -- also subscribe to their RSS feed. These are of course basically positions in college and research libraries.

 

Other Sources

  • ALA JobLIST includes searchable job listings, links to ALA's conference placement service, and allows job seekers to post their resumes.

  • Library Support Staff Jobs is a blog that reprints postings for "library support staff, library assistants, library technicians, and library clerks." RSS feed available.

  • Digital Reference Education Initiative posts jobs that involve some digital reference component. They also list internship opportunities; select from left-hand menu.

  • I for an I: Job Board

  • LibJobs Career Site's job database is searchable or browsable by posting date, location, etc. No posting dates, so beware.

  • LibraryHQ provides classified ad space for job postings. Brief ads, most linking to longer descriptions on the institutions' web sites. Also includes a jobs wanted section where you can post your own info.

  • Listings at the Mountain Plains Library Association span a number of states.

  • For an interesting twist, try job openings posted at the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals.

  • Try the LITA site for "jobs in library and information technology."

  • The ASIST Jobline Online lists mainly "new technology" positions.

  • NASIG job listings include serials-related announcements.

  • REFORMA lists its received job listings on this page, generally updated each Friday. These are usually general positions and not only for Spanish-speaking librarians.
