Email Lists

A number of associations, organizations, and schools maintain employment-oriented email discussion lists. Subscribe to receive job ads directly to your inbox. Positions are also often posted on email lists targeted at specific specialties or subfields of librarianship not listed here; be sure to subscribe to those in your own area for professional development and networking purposes as well as for access to the ads.

Employment-Oriented Email Lists

  • The University of Wisconsin-Madison SLIS maintains a Madslisjobs email list containing LIS employment opportunities.
  • LISJOBS-L (no affiliation with LISjobs.com) is an Oklahoma University-sponsored list of "Job listings of interest to Master of Library and Information Studies students."
  • lalibjobs compiles job listings from several sources, with a focus on Louisiana library jobs.
  • Subcribe to the University of Washington's iSchool Employment lists.
  • Arizona's Library Student Organization has a JOBOPS electronic list. Subscribe or browse the archive online.
  • The University of South Carolina College of Library and Information Science maintains a CLIS Jobs Mailing List.
  • Looking for a school library media position? Join the callison_lmsjobs list (scroll down the page for subscription instructions).
  • Instructions for joining the LIBJOBS List can be found at this site (which also gives the ability to search list archives).
  • Dalhousie's LIS-JOBLIST at the School of Information Management lists MLIS positions in Atlantic Canada.
  • The Careers in Federal Libraries Google group lets federal librarians network and share information and job ads with students interested in working for the federal government.
