The J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte is seeking a Health and Human Services Librarian to
represent the Library and teach bibliographic and learning courses to
undergraduates and graduate students in the College of Health and Human
Services, the fastest growing College at UNC Charlotte. The successful
candidate will serve as Atkins Library's primary outreach contact with three
Academic Units in the College: the Department of Kinesiology, the Department of
Public Health Sciences, and the School of Nursing.
POSITION INFORMATION:
- Full-time
- Faculty status. Librarians are expected to show evidence of ongoing
professional development and services to the profession.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American
Library Association required
- Undergraduate degree required
- Advanced degree in field of Health and Human Services preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach bibliographic and learning courses to undergraduates and graduate
students in UNC Charlotte's College of Health and Human Services
o Develop appropriate instructional aids (methodologies, assessments,
handouts, web pages, tutorials, Web 2.0 offerings, etc.)
- Serve as Atkins Library's primary outreach contact with the College's
Department of Kinesiology, Department of Public Health Sciences, and School of
Nursing
o Provide specialized research services related to these Academic Units or in
related fields
o Assess Atkins Library resources for proposed or revised courses and/or
degree programs related to these Academic Units
o Assess Atkins Library resources for departmental accreditation and
self-study reports related to to these Academic Units
- Provide reference services at the Research Services desk
- Advance initiatives by Information Commons, Atkins Library and UNC Charlotte
- Communicate effectively with people within and beyond Atkins Library and UNC
Charlotte
- Participate in relevant professional activities, including Atkins Library
and UNC Charlotte faculty governance
- Perform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with teaching undergraduates and graduate students in field of
Health and Human Services preferred
- Experience with providing research services related to Health and Human
Services preferred
- Experience providing library reference services preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES,

public Doctoral Intensive university
