Knowledge in the Public interest seeks a part-time experienced, passionate digital librarian to work virtually. The successful candidate will have three tasks: archiving and public dissemination of project material, and information retrieval. The project, Global Skills for College Completion, is a 2 year national initiative funded by a Gates Foundation grant to the League for Innovation in Community Colleges in association with Knowledge in the Public Interest and LaGuardia Community College. The goal of the project is to develop break-through innovations in pedagogy that will dramatically improve student pass rates in basic skills mathematics and writing to 80%.
The successful candidate will have experience with categorizing and organizing material and in particular with the use of delicious; a sophisticated understating of RSS, twitter and other collaboration and dissemination tools and strategies; and with literature review and information search.
This is a two year assignment.
Requirements:
A Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited library program, or a Master's degree in a related information technology field, such as Computer Science (CS), Management of Information Systems (MIS), or Master of Information Management (MIM). or a BA with extensive experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
