The University of Louisville (UofL) seeks a motivated and adventurous librarian to fill a full-time position as Systems Librarian. Reporting to the Director of Office of Libraries Technology, the Systems Librarian will be responsible for managing the Libraries' integrated library system, Voyager, including the online catalog, bibliographic utility software and related systems. The librarian investigates and exploits Voyager's capabilities to its fullest. The librarian serves as the contact person with the vendor, Ex Libris, and the various module users within the University Libraries. In addition, the Systems Librarian serves as a liaison to other Kentucky libraries, since UofL maintains one of two hub-sites in Kentucky as part of a statewide Voyager consortium.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Administers all aspects of the integrated library system and coordinates system installation, upgrade and maintenance.
· Provides operational support for the system, including reports, data extraction and loading, user interface customization, and client installation and configuration.
· Provides technical support and coordination for Voyager-related devices or systems such as automatic retrieval system and PeopleSoft.
· Troubleshoots all Voyager-related problems, and coordinates their investigation and resolution.
· Offers training on new and updated Voyager modules, recommends and facilitates Voyager-related staff training programs and tutorials.
· Chairs the Voyager coordinating group and attends other functional subgroups' meetings. Collaborates with other Libraries personnel to meet service needs of users
· Assists the Director, Office of Libraries Technology, with technology planning, project implementation and ongoing departmental operations management. ·
· Actively participates in state and national Voyager user groups; attends appropriate meetings and training opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
· Masters degree from an ALA-accredited program
· Two years experience with an integrated library system
· Evidence of analytic skills to effectively manage data in relational database form and web-based display format
· Proficiency in computer applications and utility tools for managing and transferring data between different systems
· Working experience with Unix, MS Access, SQL, HTML, and CSS
· Working experience with PC-based operating systems and applications including word processing, spreadsheets, or text editors)
· Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
· Ability to commit to goals and achieve established outcomes
· Ability to meet promotion criteria

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Minimum $45,000. Appointment rank and salary commensurate with qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package including 22 days annual leave, tuition remission, several options for medical and retirement plans, and a selection of other options. This is a term faculty appointment eligible for promotion but not tenure.
