Job Summary The City of Woodstock is accepting applications for the full-time position of Youth Services Librarian with the Woodstock Public Library. This professional position provides programming, materials selection, reference, and outreach services for children and young adults. Work is performed under the direction of the Library Director. Example of Duties and Responsibilities 1. Supervises library youth services. Plans, organizes and implements age-appropriate youth programming, collection development, and reference services. 2. Selects materials and equipment for children and young adult services. 3. Acts as liaison to Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 and other local schools. Participates in programs of community agencies dedicated to youth services. Prepares grants and cooperates with D200 grant planning, writing and implementation. 4. Prepares publicity for youth programs. Writes press releases. Prepares and gives public presentations. 5. Contributes to the library’s web page and utilizes the newest technology for programs, communication and outreach. 6. Assists patrons of all ages in locating and using library resources in-person and by telephone. Determines patron information needs. Minimum Qualifications 1. Master's Degree in Library & Information Science from ALA accredited program, or equivalent related experience, required. 2. Excellent English language verbal and written communications skills. 3. Demonstrated experience, enthusiasm and enjoyment working with both children and young adults. 4. Experience using new technologies highly desirable. 5. Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish desirable. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, we seek candidates who are passionate, positive, flexible, creative and enthusiastic. Salary and Benefits Starting Salary: $41,710 annually with excellent benefits package
