Maintain library collections of books, serial publications, documents, multimedia, and other materials, and assist groups and individuals in locating and obtaining materials by performing the following duties:
- Furnish information on library activities, facilities, rules, and services
- Describe or demonstrates procedures for navigating the public access catalog or electronic resources, such as CD-ROM databases
- Search files, reference shelves, and computerized information systems to locate requested information
- Order issues and receives materials for circulation or for use in library, and supervises preparation of received materials
- Assemble, arrange, and maintain reference and circulation materials
- Answer correspondence on special reference subjects
- Prepare or assists in preparation of budget and financial reports
- Investigate technologies that will improve service
Required Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge:
- Word Processing software
- Spreadsheet software
- Database software, Internet and Contact Management systems
Required Experience - Master's degree (M. A.) in Library Science is required
- 2-3 years of library experience, academic library experience preferred
- or equivalent combination of education and experience
