 VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT 

The Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T), a technological research university, seeks a dynamic, experienced leader for the position of Library Director. This position reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will: 

• Establish a shared vision that promotes the missions of the University and the Library.
• Advocate for the library in all settings.
• Communicate effectively with the Missouri S&T Provost regarding all operations and initiatives.
• Provide strategic leadership for the coordination and management of library services including planning, budgeting, and the integration of emerging technologies and trends.
• Collaborate with University Advancement to garner external funding in support of goals that cannot be adequately supported by the institution with general revenue.
• Develop new and improved space and services for students to enhance learning and collaboration.
• Oversee the assessment of library programs and services.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive strategic plan coordinated with the campus strategic plan, in collaboration with institutional executive and academic leadership, which analyzes and integrates existing and future needs.
• Demonstrate ability in building teams, strategic planning, and setting and achieving goals.
• Collaborate with the Faculty Senate Library and Learning Resources Committee to ensure that the library is fulfilling its role in supporting teaching, research, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
• Evaluate library organization and staffing and modify as required to ensure the support of campus-wide needs and demands.
• Lead the Missouri S&T Library's collaboration with the other libraries and offices in the University of Missouri System to optimize use of existing resources and development of new initiatives.
• Work with MOBIUS (a Missouri library consortium), the Missouri Library Association, and other Missouri and regional libraries to promote effective collaboration and use of resources.
• Foster an organizational culture based upon respect, teamwork, professional growth, and responsibility.
• Build and nurture an environment that rewards learning, creativity, ownership and innovation. 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of an earned master's degree from an ALA-accredited program; a minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative experience at a research library; the ability to conceive and articulate a vision for the future of library resources and services; a firm grasp of current challenges facing higher education; the ability to forge effective links with faculty and academic programs; excellent oral and written communication skills; and the insights and skills to lead the library staff in the development of innovative, technologically sound advanced programs and services.
