Capital University's Blackmore Library is seeking a dynamic Director of Library and Information Resources.  This individual will direct the overall
administration, planning, program and policy development, budget and resource
allocation for Blackmore Library and the Information Commons.  The successful candidate will provide leadership and vision that results in the
acquisition and effective use of information resources and technologies that

Duties and Responsibilities:

Directs overall Blackmore Library operations and provides leadership and implementation for strategic planning.

Provides administration and management of Library programs and resources; coordinates services with the community in order to support the academic mission and strategic plan of the University and uses assessment activities to inform changes.

Responsible for the oversight and direction of collection development and management.

Demonstrates an awareness of emerging library technologies in the fields of electronic resources and digitization.

Prepares Library's budget and maintains compliancy with University fiscal policies.                                                                                                                                   

Handles and coordinates personnel matters, including hiring and performance appraisals.

Works at the Reference Desk, including occasional evening and weekend rotations. 

Requirements:

A minimum of a Master's degree (M.L.I.S. or M.L.S.) from an ALA-accredited Library Science program.

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible administrative experience in an academic library.

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products and an understanding of Integrated Library Systems, Electronic Resource Management systems, and Integrated Resources.

Ability to collaborate effectively with the campus community and contribute to Capital University's mission, strategic plan, and goals. 

Preferred candidates should have an ability to lead the library to a future that creatively integrates new media, new technologies and innovative programs.
