The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College invites applications for an Instructional Technologies Librarian position at the Assistant Librarian rank for the UC Blue Ash College Library. UC Blue Ash College is the largest regional college in Ohio, located in Blue Ash, Ohio with an enrollment of approximately 6100 students. This tenure-track position reports to the UC Blue Ash College Library Director and works collaboratively with other library faculty and staff.

 

Responsibilities include: developing and maintaining library instructional technology tools (i.e. tutorials and online learning objects); coordinating with the Instruction Librarian and other library faculty as appropriate on the development of web-based learning tutorials and objects related to UCBA and other University of Cincinnati Libraries instruction initiatives; collaborating with the Instruction Librarian, Learning & Teaching Center Co-Directors and the Information Technology Manager on college-wide initiatives to deliver instruction services in an online environment; serving as primary back-up to the Reference/Technology Librarian to maintain the design and content of the UCBA Library website, LiBlog posts and iLib Wiki pages; exploring and recommending new technologies related to library online teaching and learning tools; participating and assisting in planning college-wide library faculty development workshops; providing reference services using general and discipline-specific information resources and databases; maintaining web page content and creating new online guides for designated subject disciplines and library services in accordance with established University of Cincinnati and University of Cincinnati Libraries policies and procedures; participating in the UCBA Library Liaison program and consulting regularly with faculty in designated departments regarding the selection and assessment of resources, instruction services, research consultations, and library services to support academic and research needs; serving as primary back-up for delivery of information literacy instruction to high volume departments; and participating in strategic planning and assessment of Library services, programs and resources. Some evening and weekend hours required.  

 

Job Description: On a full-time basis Librarian's select, acquire, and provide access to scholarly information according to the duties and responsibilities contained in their individual position description. As part of their professional responsibilities they may also participate in teaching, discovering, creating and reporting knowledge.  

 

Minimum Qualifications: Appropriate academic degree and prior experience in an integrated academic library system.  

 

Position Qualifications: Master's degree in library science or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited program. 2 years of professional library experience with an emphasis in instructional design and/or educational technology, including knowledge of basic instructional design concepts. Demonstrated knowledge of production tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, Captivate). Some experience in teaching library instruction and information literacy in an academic setting. Some professional experience in providing reference assistance in a general undergraduate academic library. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of people. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.  

 

Ideal Qualifications: Some professional experience in selecting and evaluating college-level print and electronic resources
