POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT BUSINESS LIAISON LIBRARIAN UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON LIBRARIES RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the Liaison Services Department, this position will be responsible for instruction, collection development, research support and outreach to the department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship and the department of Management in the C. T. Bauer College of Business; the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management; and the department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. As one of two business librarians for the C.T. Bauer College of Business, the person in this position is expected to work collaboratively to deliver library services to general business administration students and faculty. This person is also a member of the Social Sciences team within the Liaison Services Department. Priorities for the Liaison Services Department include developing new service models and assessment practices in support of the University’s Tier One goals. Librarians hold academic rank pursuant to the University of Houston Librarians’ Governance Document. They are expected to develop a record of service and professional involvement. Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited Master’s degree; demonstrated excellent communication skills and strong service orientation; degree, significant coursework, or work experience in economics or business fields. Preferred: Strong knowledge of or ability to facilitate the adoption of practical technologies that can enhance outreach and research support to assigned departments; experience or demonstrated interested in instruction in face to face and online environments; strong project management skills; demonstrated initiative and creativity. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a complex, changing environment with a positive, flexible, and innovative attitude, and he or she will have proven capacity to work effectively and collegially in teams, with staff at all levels, as well as faculty and students. Salary: $50,000 to $54,000 expected hiring range, depending on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits package; choice of retirement programs including TIAA-CREF; tax deferred annuity program available; release time to take a class up to 3 hours/week; no state or local income tax.
