Job Description:

Reporting to the Director for Collections, the successful candidate will provide leadership for the AUC Library's collection management services. Primary responsibilities include administering the Main Library's collection management activities through evaluation, selection and weeding of the collection (including gifts) in coordination with the selector librarians, faculty, students and administration; plans, implements and oversees the effective use of the materials budget; develops, interprets, and communicates the collection management policies.

Working closely with and reporting to the Director for Collections, the Collection Management Coordinator will coordinate, develop, and administer the Main library’s collection services within the framework of the library’s materials budget and the needs of AUC community. The Collection Management Coordinator will monitor, oversee, and provide guidance to library liaisons and coordinate both the work of library and departmental faculty liaisons, serve and/or Chair critical collection management related committees, develop and maintain collection management policies in consultation with teaching and library faculty. The Collection Management Coordinator will be responsible for assessment in Collections and other areas of library operations and provide data for such purposes as library or university accreditation, specific discipline accreditations, or new university initiatives and ensures that this data is available for further reference.
 

Requirements:

The candidate must have an ALA-accredited MLS, or international equivalent; at least five years’ successful leadership. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible professional library experience, preferably in collection management, and a demonstrated success in human resource management, including the ability to engage staff in improvement and change. A second Masters degree, working knowledge of other languages, and experience in a multicultural environment are highly desirable but not mandatory.

This is a Faculty appointment at the rank of Instructor.
