Job Description: Under general supervision, the Librarian I performs professional library work in a branch setting. The essential functions of the position include: providing assistance to the public in the use of library materials thorough reference and reading guidance services; may participate in building and maintaining collections of print and non-print materials of interest to adults, seniors and teens by reviewing materials and reevaluating programs of activities and events designed to draw new library users to the Library and introduce them to the services and programs available at Western Addition Branch; planning reading programs; may supervise volunteers; promoting productive relations with community agencies; working on special projects or programs either individually or cooperatively; participating , through staff meetings and committees, in the planning and delivery of services locally and city-wide; learning and explaining SFPL policies and procedure to staff and public; assisting in maintaining a safe pleasant environment for all library visitors and staff; performing other job-related duties as required.
