I've now heard of new hiring freezes at a few academic libraries, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill University Libraries (as reported by a friend who works there).
Libgig.com has a reported on
a hiring freeze at Cal State which "presumably limits growth and hiring plans at libraries" (though this is undated).
Does your library have a hiring freeze? Have you heard of hiring freezes at other libraries? If so, please post the name of the library here.
This is intended to help folks get an idea of what's happening in the job market for librarians right now. Thanks.
