Ex Libris this morning points to "25 Things You Should Never Put on a Resume."

For those of you who have been on search committees, what's the worst thing you've ever seen on a resume?

I don't know if it would be the worst thing, but a good example would be people who put an objective on the resume that has NOTHING to do with the job... sometimes the objective may not even be in the LIS field!!

A typed resume with handwritten additions in pencil in the margins (complete with carrots to indicate where these additions should be noted.) Folks, this is a no-no on a resume.

well, take your pick:

a resume done in crayon
a resume done on pink scented paper

one that had a picture of the guy's family

and

a vita done with pop-ups. A little pop-up school next to the academic part of the vita. and so forth.

and, of course, lots and lots of stuff that had nothing to do with job -- his wife's name, his social security number, how many pets he had,

The main thing is just people who just don't deal with spelling or somehow think we're not going to notice that pesky 4 year gap in work history.
