I almost put this in the "at least one year" thread since it is a similiar situation but I need some advice. Let me briefly recap my situation. I am an MLS grad with 9 years of public library experience, 5 of those as a Reference Librarian. After working almost 5 years at one branch, I chose to take a job in another library system. I had gone as far professionally as I thought I could, plus I had a boss from hell. I started this new position two months ago.
Unfortunately, it turns out that this job is even worse than my last one! When I was hired I knew that the branch manager was fairly new and that the former branch manager had moved to another position. I was told in the interview that the librarian I would be replacing had decided to go part time. Once I was hired, I found out more of the story. It seems that the former branch manager was "reassigned" and that the librarian I replaced was actually demoted to part time. Had I know all this going in, I would never have taken this job, and I am miserable.
Here's where I need advice-I am desperate to get out of this position but should I even bother to look for a job when I've only been at this one two months? I've applied for a few jobs and even had three interviews but I'm at a loss as to how to explain my desire to leave a job so soon.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
