I wanted to share a couple of my favorite relocation tools. I've recommended these as a public librarian and used them myself both for fun and research. As a kid who moved every couple of years, I kind of enjoy exploring new cities and towns. (That was General Electric, not the military!)

If you like questionnaires and surveys Find Your Spot is fun and easy. Revising your survey is simple as well. http://www.findyourspot.com/

Sperling's Best Places vets its data and gives the sources. There are many different categories to search. http://www.bestplaces.net/

Kiplinger's is pretty dense but a good resource.

And since my last hometown made this lists' top 5 two out of three past years, check out Money Magazine's annual search. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2007/index.html
I lived in this place 12 years and really loved it. Library jobs are pretty competitive there!

Since I've been trying to get out of Ohio since I was about 8 years old, this is something I know a bit about! I agree all of the sites you listed were excellent choices. I also frequent these:

Find out everything you need to know about the public libraries in the area you're moving to:

Find out how many sex offenders live in your new area and where they live:

Find out environmental information of your new area such as pollution rates:

Compare what your paycheck is worth here and what it will be worth once you move into a new area:
