* Duties *

The Coordinator of Science Libraries is responsible for managing the Engineering/Architecture, the Nursing/Biology and the Physics Libraries; providing reference and research assistance and instruction to users; serving as liaison to the faculties of the Departments of Engineering, Architecture and Physics, building strong relationships between faculty, researchers, and the Libraries; selecting, training, and evaluating staff (1 professional and 2 paraprofessional direct reports; 2 paraprofessional indirect reports); and participating as a resource selector for the subjects of Engineering, Architecture and Physics. The Coordinator is responsible for all operations of the Engineering/Architecture Library and the Physics Library, and works with the Life Sciences Librarian and staff of the Nursing/Biology Library to oversee operations of the Nursing/Biology Library. In addition, the Coordinator provides reference and research assistance and instruction to users in the main library. S/he works with other Public Services staff in assessing user needs and publicizing Library resources and services through outreach with the campus community. The Librarian works closely with other members of Reference and Instructional Services and Access Services.

* Required Qualifications *

Applicants must have an ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library and Information Science, a minimum 2 years professional library experience (science library experience preferred), and demonstrated management or supervisory experience. Experience with collection development processes; electronic resources, information services, and systems; information, reference, and research services; and individual and group instruction. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and other library users, orally and in writing, is important.

* Preferred Qualifications *

An undergraduate degree in any of the sciences.
