We are currently attempting to form a New Members Round Table for the Wisconsin Library Association. I have solicited the help of some library school students, and we have our work cut out for us. I have some questions for the general library public, and I would apprecite any feedback received.
1) If you helped form the New Members Round Table for your state, how did you get it off the ground?
2) What are the strengths of a New Members Round Table?
3) Where is there room for improvement in your New Members Round Table?
4) How do you effectively recruit new members to the NMRT?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

A problem I have had with NMRT's is that, as someone who has no experience with roundtables, it is not very self-evident how, where, when, and why to be involved. As a still relatively new and gung-ho librarian I would like to get more involved with the profession but I don't know how and I don't even know enough to know what I don't know and who to ask. NMRT's, as groups nominatively designed for total n00bs such as myself, should have some easier method of entry. So I would suggest some combination of a NMRT For Dummies type flier and/or some sort of buddy system or welcoming/transition committee. Essentially, I would suggest that your group be as proactive as possible, because some new members will be too overwhelmed and confused to reach out to you.
