The cooperatives are a very good way to find jobs. You can probably send an open letter to the them aksing about any positions that my be open in their area. But almost all states have good links and they are (not surprizingly) all found at LISjobs.com. You just have to poke around in the State search section.
And while the pay may be less, you will generally have a lower cost of living--you will want the extra car insurance for deer, but you can usually leave the house unlocked while you are at work. It is a matter of trade-offs.

So...so far, we are batting a thousand as: 1. I'm used to lower pay 2. I've lost a car to deer in the past. :)
But right now I'm only looking for summer work, although I'm told one should spend a few winters up north before committing to a fulltime position.
