I’m the Person of the Year

According to Time Magazine, the “Person of the Year” is… you. You, me, all of us living and interacting in this Web 2.0 world:

“But look at 2006 through a different lens and you’ll see another story, one that isn’t about conflict or great men. It’s a story about community and collaboration on a scale never seen before. It’s about the cosmic compendium of knowledge Wikipedia and the million-channel people’s network YouTube and the online metropolis MySpace. It’s about the many wresting power from the few and helping one another for nothing and how that will not only change the world, but also change the way the world changes.”

I’m thinking this is some good fodder for the Library 2.0 folks to prod administrators and others to get on board. When ideas start showing up in Time, you can pass them out to your library board … or to your colleagues who don’t make much of a habit of reading blogs … or to your colleagues who don’t make much of a habit of reading the library literature.

(Plus, I get kind of a kick out of being able to claim I am Person Of The Year!)
