A good marketing campaign is hard to find

I’d write more about this, but my tiny girl brain exploded after reading some sf earlier.

Holy c**p! And here I never knew that Carol Emshwiller, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Kate Wilhelm, Connie Willis, Esther Friesner and that crowd were all actually men in disguise.

Checking a few current issues, I see that about a third of the stories in Asimov’s and F&SF are by writers with names suggesting the female gender. I suppose it could be an affirmative action program, but I’d bet it’s talent. As for that marketing campaign…well, I didn’t know much about the publisher, but my respect has just gone down one huge step.

And you can add Andre Norton to that crowd, Walt.
