I was actually just reading a book that discussed multi-tasking. It is The New Brain: How the Modern Age is Rewiring Your Mind, by Restak. I was hoping it would be applicable to my book research and talk about how technology is influencing how we learn, but it didn't really go there. It was a good read though, and he made it very approachable. He did state that multi-tasking is inefficient, that we really can't do more than one thing at a time and do it as well as if we were focusing on each task separately. And he says we lose time, b/c each switch of focus costs time (even just a fraction of a second). Though I know when I check email during a boring meeting, I am getting more done that I would otherwise! :)He does discuss ADD as well, so my be worth checking out at the library!
